Rabies is still present in several regions of Poland. The favorable epizootic situation in the country was interrupted by the rabies outbreak in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship in 2021, resulting in an increase in the number of cases in animals, mainly the red foxes. Immediate measures introduced by the Veterinary Inspection, including emergency vaccination and additional campaigns of oral immunization of foxes (oral rabies vaccination, ORV), effected in the inhibition of the virus spread in the wild animals population, leading finally to a decrease in the number of reported rabies cases. The paper presents data on rabies cases in domestic animals, wildlife animals as well as bats, including the contribution of individual animal species and geographical distribution of rabies in Poland, in 2022. Thus, the need for close and comprehensive surveillance of ORV in the elimination of rabies in the field was emphasized
