Since 2009, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), launched the program to develop harmonized approach to the collection and reporting of data on the use of antimicrobial agents in animals in the European Union (EU), and the European Economic Area (EEA). For this purpose, the project European Monitoring Program for Consumption of Veterinary Antimicrobial Agents (ESVAC), was set up. The aim of this study was to present the overall use of different classes of antibacterial agents in cattle, pigs and horses in Poland, in years 2014–2016. During this survey, veterinary surgeons from different voivodships, have submitted 93 reports in 2014, 95 reports in 2015 and 97 reports in 2016. This monitoring has indicated permanent trend in the use of penicillins and tetracyclines in cattle and pigs, and significant increase in consumption of these groups of veterinary medicinal products in horses, whereas the use of sulfonamides and aminoglycosides in all animal species has significantly decreased.
